A rare Vintage large 804-page volume circa 1935, displaying an extensive and stunning photographic record of machines and pilots, and informative narrative detailing the story of flight since the Wright Brothers up until the 1930’s, primarily dealing with military developments rather than civil aviation history; the work, referred to as "A Pictured Story of Flying, Past, Present and Future" was edited by Sir John Hammerton (1871-1949), whom the Dictionary of National Biographies describes as "the most successful creator of large-scale works of reference that Britain has known"; in excellent condition with turquoise boards and spine with highly decorative silver embossed plane image on the front, exhibiting some minor wear to top and bottom edges of spine
