A rare original steel plate engraving from a painting by English artist Samuel Edmund Waller, illustrating the arrival of a dog sled at Winnipeg, Manitoba, published August 19, 1876 edition of The Graphic which was a British weekly illustrated newspaper; it was first published on the 4th of December, 1869 by William Luson Thomas’ company, set up to rival The Illustrated London News; this image predates Manitoba joining the Dominion of Canada in 1870 - image size 22.2 x 29.8cm (8 3/4 x 11 3/4in); matted, presented in excellent condition
