Titled to the margin "Lord William, The Property of Samuel Lawrence Esq.", antique restrike hand-coloured engraving by J.R. Mackrell after a painting by William J. Shayer (English, 1811-1891), which depicts the horse Lord William who trotted from London to Brighton in the unprecedented time of three hours and fifty five minutes on October 14th, 1842; found in near pristine condition and presented in a costly shadowbox frame, image size 44.5 x 59.1cm (17 1/2 x 23 1/4in), frame outside dimensions 67.3 x 83.8cm (26 1/2 x 33in); Provenance: Decher Art Gallery Ltd., London; from the same private London collection as the preceding two lots
