Titled "Mount Edith Cavell", signed lower right, dated 1928 verso, oil on panel, 25.4 x 30.5cm (10 x 12in) - Joseph Ernest Sampson, Canadian, 1887-1946; an early 20th century artist, designer and printer who was co-founder of the printing firm Sampson-Matthews Ltd. with Charles Matthews; only 11 original paintings have appeared for sale by auction since 1995, as Sampson was best known for his silkscreen prints
