The complete set of six mixed media prints with embossing in colours, on Arches paper, each pencil signed and dated (19)79 (one has been signed and dated twice), handprinted by Editions Canada, London, Ontario out of an edition of 130, this set is number 24; titles of the works include "Lying in Red", "The Falling Face", "Purple Owl", "Face", "Sound" and "The Soft Oriental"; image size for each approximately 77.5 x 55.9cm (30 1/2 x 22in); sheet size 88.9 x 66cm (35 x 26in); three of the six have been professionally framed and matted, all are in pristine condition with the exception of some light foxing; also included is the original folio case, with description pages inside and brochure; Provenance: private London collection; Christiaan Karel Appel, Dutch, 1921-2006, a founding member of the European avant-garde movement CoBrA and one of the most recognized artists worldwide; this is an extremely rare suite by Appel, the colours are quite striking and vibrant
