Original historic 1797 hand-coloured engraving after Sir Hervey Smythe, 3rd Bt (1731-1811) titled in both English and French to the lower margin "A View of the Taking of Quebec, September 13th, 1759" depicting British soldiers being rowed ashore and climbing the Heights of Abraham, as well battling on the Plains; the entire battle lasted only 15 minutes, with General Wolfe dying from his wounds shortly after; sight 34.3 x 47.6cm (13 1/2 x 18 3/4in); displayed in a handsome antique frame
