"Untitled: French Landscape with Farmhouse", signed lower right, oil on canvas, 49.5 x 64.8cm (19 1/2 x 25 1/2in); Marco de Gastyne, French, 1889-1982; born as Marc Henri Benoist, the artist used his writer father's pen name of "de Gastyne" for his artwork and signed both "Marco" and "Marc" as with this work; his paintings were exhibited in London, Paris, and Versailles, and he was also a prominent illustrator for the French journal La Baionnette, as well as for being a cinema director in the film industry in France, directing more than a dozen films between 1922 and 1962
