A lovely 19th century oil on canvas "Message to the Court", signed lower middle left and dated 1869, 73.7 x 61cm (29 x 24in); displayed in an exceptional period frame and believed to be original to this painting; Provenance: Waddingtons, Toronto, 2008; present Ontario collection; William Jaybez Muckley, English, 1829-1905; after formal training in Birmingham, London and Paris, Muckley became a member of the Royal Society of British Artists, The British Institution and New Watercolour Society; he also exhibited at The Royal Academy from 1858-1904; his works are held in the Manchester City Art Gallery and is said to be a favourite of the Pre-Raphaelites
