Fine Art Galleries, Toronto (certificate verso with original price of $200.00, sold in 1959); present private London collection; some paint loss noted; Thomas (Tom) Albert Stone, 1894-1978; born in Fownhope, England in 1894, moved to Edmonton in 1914 and Vancouver in 1921, where he studied at the Vancouver School of Art; Stone eventually became the director of the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA) in the 1930's, and painted up until his death in 1978; this is a lovely work by the artist, displaying the vast Canadian winter landscape just north of Huntsville, Ontario
