SKETCH OF NOOTKA SOUND 1785

A rare original very detailed copper-plate engraving (Plate 37 - the writing engraved by Mw. Smith) from the 1785 account of Cook’s Third Voyage, copied by Lt. Henry Roberts for publishers G. Nicol and T. Cadell, London; Cook visited Nootka Sound on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, where he identifies the ship anchorage cove, on 26 April 1778

Presented in good condition with small section of outer plate impression missing, bottom left corner, protected in clear film sleeve - image size 26 x 20.3cm (10 1/4 x 8in)
