THE RUSSIAN DOMINIONS IN EUROPE, 1808

This very rare and extraordinarily detailed hand-coloured original copper- plate engraving comprises two separate large maps which were drawn from the latest maps printed by the Academy of Sciences, St Petersburg, Russia, revised and corrected with the Post Roads and New Governments from the Russian Atlas of 1806 by Jasper Nantiat; it was published by W. Faden, Geographer to His Majesty and His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, on June 4, 1808

Presented in nice condition on studio board with protective clear film with some offsetting from being folded originally in an atlas, and slight edge fold separation, this important map would benefit from a degree of professional restoration to enhance and preserve its quality and value; image size 53.3 x 91.4cm (21 x 36in); as of May 2022, Barry Lawrence Ruderman Antique Maps of California had a fine example available for sale at $4200.00 U.S. ($5500.00 CAD)
