Titled "Guardian Owl", pencil signed and inscribed "Dorset, 1997" to the margin, etching and aquatint in colours editioned 41/100, image size 53.3 x 74.3cm (21 x 29 1/4in); frame outer dimensions 76.2 x 97.8cm (30 x 38 1/2in); Kenojuak Ashevak, Canadian Inuit, RCA, 1927-2013; a leading figure of modern Inuit art, Ashevak became one of the first Inuit women in Cape Dorset to begin drawing, and worked in graphite, coloured pencils, felt-tip pens, watercolours and acrylics; her works are displayed in the Art Museum (The University of Toronto), the National Gallery of Canada, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other major collections; this is an excellent example of her work showcasing vibrant colours, "The Enchanted Owl" 1960 stonecut print by Ashevak sold at auction in 2018 for $216,000
