A very early oil on canvas, the subject believed to be Samson (the last of the judges of the ancient Israelites mentioned in the Book of Judges) after his capture by the Philistines in Gaza prison, 61 x 76.2cm (24 x 30in); artist unknown, dated circa 1700's or earlier, and has been laid down to a more modern canvas and re-framed; please note old repairs; Provenance: from a private Regina, Saskatchewan estate collection
