JEAN GAUTHIER HOCKEY TILE

H.M. Cowan glazed hockey tile in colours depicting Jean Gauthier, produced circa 1962-1963, dimensions 15.2cm (6in) square - Note: originally made in England for the Canadian company Screenart, these tiles were to go on sale at NHL arena souvenir shops across Canada and the U.S., but a licensing problem led to the entire project being scrapped and many of the tiles were destroyed; though they were never officially distributed, some tiles got out on the open market and are extremely rare to see for sale
