"Untitled: River Scene in Winter", signed lower right, pastel on paper, sight 39.4 x 49.5cm (15 1/2 x 19 1/2in); present Ontario collection, acquired from a relative of the artist; Bruce Heggtveit, Canadian, 1917-2004; born in Maidstone, Saskatchewan into an artistic family, it wasn't until the 1970's that he decided to pursue art full-time; Heggtveit was also a gifted mentor and taught on-location classes at the Ottawa School of Art, St. Lawrence College and the Gatineau Group of Painters; pastels are quite rare for Heggtveit, who was perhaps best known for his landscape oil paintings of Quebec
