A History of the Scottish Highlands and Highland Clans, and Highland Regiments, with an account of The Gaelic Language, Literature and Music by the Rev Thomas MacLauchlan (1815-1886), and an Essay on Highland Scenery by late Professor John Wilson (1785-1854) - edited by John S. Keltie (1840-1927) F.S.A. Scot; MacLauchlan was the Moderator of the General Assembly for the Free Church of Scotland 1876-77; Professor Wilson was a lawyer and author under the pen name of Christopher North and counted among his friends such notables as Sir Walter Scott, James Hogg, Samuel Coleridge, Robert Southey, Thomas de Quincy, and William Wordsworth; John Keltie was a Scottish geographer with the Royal Geographical Society and was knighted by His Majesty King George V in 1918; this volume contains numerous illustrations, steel engravings, and coloured examples of clan tartans; original dark green boards and gold lettering on spine have sustained some water damage but contents remain clear and virtually undamaged
