A rare 19th century publication (later versions are more common), complete set in 3 volumes (Bound by Blackie & Son Limited of Glasgow, Scotland) of Cassell’s Old and New Edinburgh: Its History, its people, and its Places by James Grant (Author of "Memorials of the Castle of Edinburgh", "British Battles on Land and Sea", etc.; illustrated by numerous engravings; this extensive and comprehensive work is an important historical record of Edinburgh, how it used to look in days gone by, replete with rare, detailed and fascinating engravings throughout; the 3 Volumes contain 135 chapters, over 1100 pages and nearly 600 illustrations; in good condition in original cloth/leather boards with gold spine embossing (Volume III spine label missing) with a degree of scuffing evident on cover corners; some foxing distributed unevenly, especially around some full page engravings although all text is clear and eminently readable
