Curry, Toronto; Walter Joseph Phillips, Canadian, 1884-1963; born in Barton-upon-Humber, Lincolnshire, England, Phillips studied at the Birmingham School of Art, and later studied abroad in South Africa and Paris; he moved to Winnipeg in 1913, and resided in Canada for the rest of his life; Phillips is perhaps best known for his woodcut prints, and an exhibition of them was held at the McMichael Gallery in 2020
