A good brass octagonal compass/sundial in its original black card case circa 1800; French with 50% silvering of the compass dial, needle points North (30 degree offset for deviation), folding bird gnomen is adjustable from 40-60 degrees north latitude; ten cities and their latitudes on the reverse including Quebec City, Canada; 7 x 6.4cm (2 3/4 x 2 1/2in); a well used but not abused example
