A large bronze sculpture on marble base titled "Bronco Buster", portraying a rugged cowboy fighting to stay aboard a rearing, plunging bucking horse, height including base 58.4cm (23in), width 50.8cm (20in), depth 25.4cm (10in), weight 60.6lbs; signature to base and dedication to Theodore Roosevelt; this particular example was made in a limited edition of 50 re-cast bronzes, and is numbered 7; "Bronco Buster" was the first and remains the most popular of all of Remington's sculptures, with originals in many important collections including the Oval Office in the White House, Washington D.C.; Provenance: from a private collection, London, acquired by an executive at Imperial Oil; the original price of this rare edition of 50 was $20,000 each, and was part of a fundraising event to raise $1,000,000 by Imperial Oil; Frederic Sackrider Remington, a prominent 19th century American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in Western American Art, 1861-1909
