Titled "Early Winter, Anjigami Lake, Algoma", signed lower right, acrylic on board, 58.7 x 68.6cm (23 1/8 x 27in); Provenance: East Queen Gallery, Toronto; artist's studio stamp and biography verso; James Edward Hergel, Canadian, born 1961; at the age of twelve, a young James Hergel met Group of Seven member A.Y. Jackson and escorted him on his wheelchair through the grounds of the Canadian National Exhibition and Ontario Place; this encounter with a high profile artist had a truly profound impact on him; Hergel studied on scholarship at the Art Gallery of Ontario, and took instruction from a number of notable contemporary Canadian artists in the 1970's including Jack Bush; on a chance meeting with A.J.
