RMS EMPRESS OF GREAT BRITAIN

An important ship model, RMS Empress of Great Britain, modelled after the liner sunk by a German U-boat in WW2; based on family accounts, the model was made by an inmate at St. Vincent de Paul penitentiary in Quebec, acquired at the inmate hobby craft centre by the head of the Remission Branch Service in approximately 1942; wired for internal lighting; 62in long x 30in tall x 10in; condition - surface wear and some minor repairs needed; original wood shipping crate with stenciled lettering - 39 x 67 x 15in
