Large oil on canvas depicting a portrait of a Knight of the Garter, appears unsigned and undated, the canvas measuring 1.02m x 76.2cm (40 x 30in); housed in an elaborate modern frame, outside dimensions 1.28 x 1.03m (50 1/2 x 40 1/2in); Note: The Knights of the Garter was founded in 1348 by King Edward III of England, and was the highest and most coveted order of chivalry; this work is believed to be either a portrait of James Douglas, 2nd duke of Queensbury, 1662-1711, or after The Duke of Marlborough's portrait by Godfrey Kneller, 1646-1723
