Titled verso "Road to New Dundee", signed lower right and verso, oil on canvas board, 45.7 x 61cm (18 x 24in) - Roy Austin, Canadian, 1910-1997; born in England and moving to Canada at one year of age, Austin's family settled in Orangeville, Ontario; in 1930, he enrolled at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, studying under prominent artists of the day including J.W. Beatty, J.E.H. Macdonald, Frank Carmichael and Yvonne McKague Housser; Austin graduated in 1934 and was accepted into annual exhibitions with the OSA and RCA
