LOT DETAILS

Titled verso "Read Between the Lines", signed twice verso, oil on canvas, 71.1 x 91.4cm (28 x 36in); Provenance: Galerie D'Arts Contemporains, Montreal, Quebec - Ross Bishop, contemporary London, Ontario artist, born in North Bay and graduated from the University of Guelph, B.Sc. (H.K.) in 1979, living in London ever since; although having a science background, his appreciation always existed for the aesthetics of movement and colour and has been painting abstract art for twenty years; "To me, abstract painting is an introspective method of painting, which the interested viewer must let the painting communicate. It may be an instantaneous communication or it may take time. Abstract paintings make you think, wonder and feel. There are no easily recognized life lines to grasp for easy understanding. That is to say, I am not painting landscapes, so don't look for a tree. Realism on canvas has its place, just not here"; Ross Bishop's paintings have been exhibited in galleries in London, Toronto and Montreal
