Red wool hooded parka with five hand-carved ivory buttons, made by Grenfell circa 1960's with original label - length 1.12m (44in), shoulder to shoulder 45.7cm (18in), arm length approximately 50.8cm (20in); stitch repair to interior; Provenance: from a private London collection, the owner's mother worked in the Arctic throughout the 1960's, starting in 1962 at the Handicraft Centre in Cape Dorset, then Chesterfield Inlet and later Cambridge Bay; she eventually moved to Grenfell Handicrafts as a manager for 3 years in 1966, and designed parkas which are still in use today; this parka and Lots 1315 and 1333 are part of the same collection, as well the vintage Inuit mittens, slippers and fabric hanging (Lots 1323, 1342, 1355 and 1360)
