"Untitled: Landscape Scene with Dam", signed lower right and dated (19)49, watercolour on paper, sight 36.8 x 54.6cm (14 1/2 x 21 1/2in) - Ernest Caven Atkins, Canadian, 1907-2000, also known as Caven Atkins, was born in London, Ontario and grew up in Manitoba and Saskatchewan; he was an instructor at the Winnipeg School of Art from 1930-1934, Queen's University in 1943 and the Ontario College of Art in 1945; after the war, Atkins moved to Birmingham, Michigan and worked as a designer/illustrator for the Ford Motor Company until his retirement; he passed away in Birmingham at the age of 93
