Titled "Owls", pencil signed to the lower margin and dated 1967, stencil engraving on paper editioned 22/50, image size 14.6 x 19.7cm (5 3/4 x 7 3/4in); frame outer dimensions 37.5 x 39.4cm (14 3/4 x 15 1/2in); Kenojuak Ashevak, Canadian Inuit, 1927-2013; born in Ikirasaq off southern coast of Baffin Island, Ashevak was a leading figure of modern Inuit art and became one of the first Inuit women in Cape Dorset to begin drawing, and worked in graphite, coloured pencils, felt-tip pens, watercolours and acrylics; her work is in the Art Museum (The University of Toronto), the National Gallery of Canada, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other major collections
