"Untitled: Forest Interior Scene, Early Autumn", signed lower right, oil on panel circa 1930, 28 x 33cm (11 x 13in); professionally framed and matted; also included is "Gwen Lamont - Early Sketches 1932-1935", 1978 volume signed inside by Erin Lamont; Provenance: private Ontario collection; Gwen Lamont (née Kortright Hutton), Canadian, 1909-1978; Lamont studied at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto from 1925 to 1928, receiving an honours degree in painting; she exhibited her work in Vancouver starting in 1932, and held a solo exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 1938; at the "All Canadian Exhibition" which ran from May-July, 1932, two of her works were exhibited alongside important artist's of the day including several members of the Group of Seven, Clarence Gagnon, Fred S. Haines and Marion Long; later in life she was involved in the development of the Kelowna Art Gallery and is recognized as the gallery's first curator; this is an important western Canadian work by a prominent artist during a revolutionary time for painter's in our nations history, and exceptionally rare as so few of her works are obtainable
