Painted circa early 1800's in the school of Sir David Wilkie (Scottish, 1785-1843) depicting a tavern interior scene with British soldier attempting to recruit various men gathered around a table, oil on canvas, 71.1 x 91.4cm (28 x 36in); housed in a period late Georgian/early Victorian frame, outer dimensions 90.8cm x 1.10m (35 3/4 x 43 1/2in); although unsigned, this work is beautifully painted in stunning detail with some minor wear to canvas commensurate with age
