Complete set of six engravings from "Marriage à-la-Mode", circa late 18th/early 19th century; the series depicts the story of marriage contracts and love affairs amongst the aristrocracy of England at the time; the six prints are in order as:

1) The Marriage Settlement

3) The Inspection

4) The Toilette

5)The Bagnio

6) The Lady's Death

The final scene shows the widowed countess dying as she poisoned herself, and her cruel father, who arranged her miserable life, slips the ring off her finger; image size for each 33.7 x 41.9cm (13 1/4 x 16 1/2in); each professionally framed and matted, one has a cracked glass panel, the frames measure 57.2 x 65.4cm (22 1/2 x 25 3/4in); William Hogarth, English, 1697-1764; from the same collection as the previous lot
