A rare original copper-plate engraving by W. H(arrison), Plate 79, after another missing survey, possibly by William Bligh, with the view drawn by John Webber, from Cook’s Third Voyage, and published in 1785 by Order of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, printed by W. & A. Strahan for G. Nicol and T. Cadell
The expedition sighted the coast of Japan on 26th October 1779 and Webber records the coastal view, after which they sailed south along the coast until they turned East on November 2nd and left northern Japan - a month later they would anchor at Macao, China; presented in very good condition, protected in clear film sleeve - image size of maps 20.3 x 19.1cm (8 x 7 1/2in) and 3.2 x 17.8cm (1 1/4 x 7in)
