1790 MAP OF FRANCE

This rare hand coloured original copper-plate engraving of France divided into Provinces was published by W. Faden at Charing Cross, London on July 26, 1790; of particular interest is the decorative vignette and that its administrative representation predates by mere months the reorganization instituted by the revolutionary National Assembly into Departments illustrated in a subsequent map; presented in very good and undamaged condition with some offsetting from folding (although the latter does not significantly detract from the attractive appearance of the image) on studio board with protective clear film - image size 48.3 x 54.6cm (19 x 21 1/2in)
