Large hand-painted canvas in two sections depicting a large centrepiece with elegant border design, believed to have been purchased from Routledge & Burton; experts are puzzled by the age, as the back of the canvas and stretcher appear to date pre-1800, possibly a very early and rare piece; the Little family has informed Gardner's that a notation was found in a relatives will, describing this as "made during the reign of Louis XVI"; outside dimensions 1.74 x 1.12m (68 1/2 x 44in); condition issues such as paint loss, staining to the canvas verso and repair to the centre of the canvas; Provenance: Altadore mansion
