LOT DETAILS

Circa 1931 British bicorn hat made by Gieves Ltd. (London and Edinburgh), measures 42.5cm (16 3/4in) wide, together with sub-lieutenant epaulettes, garters, cloth badge and found in original rare metal hat box - the previous owner informed Gardner Galleries that he purchased the hat in England and was told it originally belonged to Lt. Herbert "Ginger" Le Breton, the only sailor to take part in the mutiny of the Atlantic Fleet at Invergordon and then obtain a commission; unfortunately there is no documentation to substantiate the story - sold in "as found" condition
