Clay sculpture circa 2014 on wood base, signed with thumbprint verso, height 35.6cm (14in); overall height with base 38.1cm (15in); also included is a letter from Robinson, who stated the inscriptions verso are runes, "Runes can be read in two ways... as a language 'Futhark', or in this case as symbols, symbols of concepts (ice-stillness), the interpretation relies on personal history, or the messenger"; he continues, describing the runes from top to bottom "Standstill (Ice) - Wholeness (Sun), Breakthrough, Gift, Possessions, The Self, Mystery, Opening and Breakthrough; the three lines, three levels of consciousness; the rune in a circle, to be read in isolation; rune in inverted triangle, its meaning associated with the female, also circle with a line"; Provenance: private collection London, acquired directly from the artist; Ray Robinson, Canadian, born 1931
