A rare original hand-coloured engraving for the Illustrated London News of December 5, 1868, titled the Bishop of Calcutta arriving at Srinigar, the Capital of Cashmere; the engraving shows the Bishop and his entourage arriving in several boats on the Jhelum River, called Vyath, now in Kashmir; The Bishop, Robert Milman (1816-1876) went to Srinigar after his appointment in 1867 to Calcutta; he died at Rawalpindi after catching a chill while travelling from Calcutta to Peshawar (now in Pakistan); in excellent condition mounted in beige matt and wrapped in clear protective film, image size 16.5 x 24.1cm (6 1/2 x 9 1/2in)
