WAVERLEY CHILDREN'S DICTIONARY (7 VOLS.) 1928

A complete First Edition set of the Waverley Children’s Dictionary in 7 volumes, edited by Harold Wheeler and printed at London in 1928; inside the front cover is the name of its first owner (printer) and the date 1928, and it has remained in the same family for almost 100 years; inside the first volume is a photograph with the notation "Admiral of the Fleet Sir Charles Madden who became First Sea Lord in 1927"; the Dictionary was considered a major source of knowledge for children of all ages at the time and contains thousands of photographs, drawings, and illustrations, including many richly coloured plates; in very good condition for its age with some minor top and bottom edge scuffing on the spines
