A highly important 10.2cm (4in) diameter celestial globe dedicated to the Bishop of Leige, George of Austria (1505-1557) who was son of Emperor Maximillian I, displayed on a later onyx and gilt brass figural base, overall height 26.7cm (10 1/2in); some surface wear near poles and one old gore repair/crack, overall very good condition considering its age
