Titled "Wylie's Farm, Madawaska", signed and dated 1933 lower left, oil on canvas, 76.2cm x 1.02m (30 x 40in); one very small paint check upper middle, otherwise in excellent condition; Provenance: Roberts Gallery, Toronto; Edith Grace Lawson Coombs, Canadian, 1890-1986, born in Hamilton, Ontario, eventually moving to St. Catherines and studied at the Ontario College of Art from 1913-1918; an educator most of her life, Coombs taught at Edgehill College in Nova Scotia, Havergal College in Toronto and the Ontario College of Art from 1921-1956; this is the largest and quite possibly the most important work by the artist to ever appear for sale; a stunning depiction of the vast northern Ontario landscape just south of Algonquin Park
